Life As A Second Year Associate

I remember my conversation with second-year associates when I begun working at the firm. I wondered why were the associates so bitter? I thought that they must have some sort of pessimistic personality, but now I understand.

My fellow 2003 associate and I came to the realization that we have also become old angry maids. Her transformation is drastic. She was one of the nicest and most naive person that I know. But that has changed. She cusses at other drivers, and complains incessantly about everything. Of course, I may have changed as well.

For the past few days, people have been complaining and talking about quiting. A fourth-year associate gave his four-week notice today. I wonder how many more will follow.

One female associate, who I detest, has been talking about leaving the firm for months. By now, I feel like I should volunteer to help her pack.

Today, I was surprised when my co-worker started crying. She was told by a Fifth year that she has develop an attitude problem even though she was doing most of his work. I fell so bad for her. But I understand how she feels. This job or this office have made most of the associates feel that they are worthless and inadequate.

Sigh....
